Pecan Trail Intermediate is part of College Station ISD schools. Our Orchestra program starts in the 5th grade and continues on to College Station Middle School and College Station High School. Our program is a great opportunity to expand your child's musical knowledge and challenge them to dive right into making music and playing an instrument.
What is Orchestra and How do I learn more?
Orchestra is a class that includes the classical instruments of the string family. You may choose to play violin, viola, cello or string bass. 5th grade is the only time you can join orchestra as a beginner.
If you are in the 4th grade and would like to join orchestra, we will be visiting your elementary school. You will be able to come try out instruments in the string drive in the spring semester.
This youtube video answers many of the questions students and parents have:
" Orchestra is great and I highly recommend you to join. As a participant in the chamber orchestra I can first hand tell you that orchestra will change your life. Orchestra is good for anyone looking to have fun and learn the art of music. While in orchestra, you will have a choice of four instruments: violin, viola, cello and bass. My personal favorite is violin, but all the instruments have great qualities. Orchestra is an amazing experience that starts in fifth grade all the way through high school! I can't wait to see you in orchestra next year" -Taylor Jennings 6th grade violin
" Orchestra is awesome. It not only makes you smarter, it improves your coordination. I joined orchestra because I love music and I wanted better eye-hand coordination. I think you should start orchestra now because it is easier to start at a young age. It is okay if you have longer or shorter arms, because all the instruments have different sizes that will fit you just right. I think that orchestra will improve your intelligence and skills." -Talie Rane 6th grade violin
