Refrain from touching the bow hair with anything other than rosin.
Always store the bow with the hair loose.
After each time you play your instrument, wipe the fingerboard and strings with your cleaning cloth.
Keep the instrument out of very cold or very hot places. (Not near AC vent or a place that gets direct sunlight)
Do not leave the instrument in a car for several hours at a time. Instead take it into the mall, restaurant, etc. with you.
Please do not attempt to fix the instrument if it is broken. Only an experienced string repair person should do that.
Do not glue parts of your instrument together. (The glue found at home is not the same kind used on instruments. Also, not all parts are glued on the instrument.)
About once a week check that the bridge is sitting properly on the top of the instrument. The feet should be flat. (That it is not leaning to one side or the other.)
Be careful around pets, younger brothers/sisters, friends and other people that are not string players. They do not know how to take care of the instrument and could accidentally break something.
Check that the fine tuners are not touching the top of your instrument. They could dig a hole in the instrument.
